In Memory of Grandaddy

My grandaddy passed away on May 23 after battling lung cancer for a short time.  He was born on February 7, 1927 and was 87 when he passed away.  He lived by himself since I was almost 1 years old.  He was very independent and worked hard, especially around the yard.  He walked several miles a day at the mall.  He had a certain route at the mall, one that avoided the women who liked to talk to him.  He always had a certain way of doing things.  So thankful that he raised my dad and taught him well.  He taught him how to be a great dad and husband.  Its been hard for my family because we lost my Papa last year.  So glad he got to meet Jaxon and his other great grandchild Maddie Grace.  He will be greatly missed.

Grandaddy, Jaxon, and Dad

We enjoyed spending time with family at the funeral to celebrate my Grandad's life.  We decided to leave Jaxon with Brian's parents while we traveled to be with family.  We enjoyed snowballs in Maryland and playing old skool candyland.

Bubbles and outside

Jaxon loves bubbles and playing outside with his toys.

Playdate with his buddy Andrew. They had fun playing outside and eating lunch together.

Strawberry picking

I made the mistake of taking Jaxon strawberry picking without Brian, but thankfully my friend Jessica and her son James came with us.  It was still hard because all Jaxon wanted to do was see the tractors and ride on the gator and push his stroller.  He had no interest in the animals or picking strawberries.  So I had to contain him in his stroller at the end of one of the strawberry rows while I picked.  Lesson learned: next time bring some help.

Strawberry picking... this time with daddy and our friends with their son Bentley.  This time Jaxon ate lots of strawberries and helped daddy pick some.  We made a game out of it.  He would pick some and run down the row and hand them to me or put them in my bucket.  When we were done he was covered in strawberries.

Jaxon's birthday party with his friends

We had scheduled his birthday party with his friends on Saturday May 17, but we had to postpone it.  He had a high fever over the weekend.  He didn't have any other symptoms but the high fever.  Thankfully it just lasted over the weekend but didn't want to spread any germs.  We rescheduled it for during the week with just the mommies and the kiddos.  We had so much fun and I used the decorations twice.  I felt like we celebrated all month because I just kept the decorations up.
So thankful for all his friends and their moms.

I made a dirt cake in the back of Jaxon's truck.  He didn't like the fact he couldn't play with his truck.
