A busy July

On July 4th Kaelyn finally said "momma"- what a way to celebrate Independence Day
We had a cookout at Aunt Sue Sue's house and the kids had fun in the pool.  Jaxon loved squirting Uncle Larry and Jaxon finally got used to the pool.  Brian made a game of it and before we knew it Jaxon wasn't holding on to us.  We couldn't get him out of the pool, not even to have ice cream.

Kaelyn is finally sitting up on her own and playing with her toys

Jaxon loves to ride the jet ski with Brian.  Sometimes the getting on and off he doesn't like, but once he's on he loves it.

Jaxon's new bedtime song is Jesus Loves Me.  He knows all the words.  His new favorite bible story is Jonah.  He will usually help us read it.

Jaxon can go potty by himself standing up with no stool and loves to wash his hands.  Normally we have to supervise him in the bathroom otherwise we will be out of handsoap.  He also loves to pee outside.  "Mommy can I pee in the grass?"

Jaxon's sentences are getting longer and he asks alot of questions and loves the word "why"

We went to visit great grandma for her birthday

He loves to paint

Brian took Jaxon fishing with "uncle" Eric. Brian said it was alot of work but they had fun

We found the hidden diamond of Winston Salem at Salem Lake.  A beautiful lake with a 7 mile loop around it.  We took a walk and biked around the lake a couple of times.  The kids loved riding in the double stroller while Brian and I got some exercise.

We took the kids to a new splash pad.

Jaxon went to Jump N Fun with his buddy for the first time.  They mostly played with the toys in the baby area but they did have fun going down the slide.

We met up with some of my college friends at Dan Nicholas Park.  The kids had a lot of fun.  There was alot to do there- miniature golf, gem mine, petting zoo, splash pad area, playground, train, and carousel.

Our friends were nice enough to let us stay at their house at Smith Mountain Lake.  We took Brian's parents with us.  It was a nice and relaxing few days to be able to spend time together for Brian's birthday.  We had great weather and enjoyed getting out on the lake.  Jaxon earned $1 from Paw Paw and Maw Maw for pooping in the potty.  It was a struggle to get him to sit on the potty but he was excited. "Mommy I pooped a big snake"

Jaxon is on the phone with Mimmie and Pop Pop telling them he pooped in the potty.  He loves to talk on the phone and can carry on a pretty good conversation.

Jaxon loves to give Kaelyn kisses and hugs.  He loves to talk to her and make her laugh.  We've started putting her in a booster high chair at the table with us.  She loves it.  Jaxon and Kaelyn will copy each other at the table.  Its so much fun to watch them interact.

Jaxon has occasionally skipped his naps this summer. Thankfully I think it was short lived.  I need him to nap.  He seems to be napping pretty regularly now and will even tell us that he's tired and wants to go take his nap.

Kaelyn hasn't started to crawl yet but she is trying.  She moves around alot on the floor and will use her hands to scoot back.

Celebrating a friend's birthday at the lake

Sitting with daddy by the fire

Meeting up with my good friend Cathy and her husband for dinner

Jaxon loves to line up his monster trucks

at the children's museum with his best buddy

Our first movie experience with our friends.  They were showing Dinosaur Train from PBS kids.  Jaxon did pretty good. It was 2 hours long and we made it through 45 minutes before Jaxon and his buddy had to get up to get their wiggles out.  Good thing we had the theater to ourselves and it was free.  We left after about an hour and a half.

Happy 8 months
