Valentines Day and fun in the Snow

Jaxon and some friends from church went to a nearby nursing home to pass out Valentines.  We had a great time.  The people's faces lit up when the kids gave them Valentine cards that they had made.

After seeing how much the people enjoyed getting cards, we decided to make them for a few friends and all the grandparents and great grandparents. Thanks to pinterest I think they turned out pretty cute.

Starting on Wednesday February 12, our area got hit with a bunch of snow causing Brian to have a short week at school.  Jaxon and I were so excited to have Brian home for 3 days so we could play in the snow.  I think we got around 8inches.  Jaxon absolutely loved the snow.  We didn't have a chance to buy snowpants or boots so we improvised.  I layered him up and tied grocery bags around his shoes and it worked out just fine.  We even walked over to our friends house and Jaxon and Andrew went sledding together.  Usually I have to chase Jaxon all around the yard, but thanks to the snow he didn't move quite as fast and Brian and I made our snowmen family while Jaxon entertained himself.  Our driveway and some side roads in our neighborhood had great sledding hills.  Jaxon loved being pulled in the sled and going fast down the hills with us.  We also enjoyed eating some snow cream.

New words

Love you- "Wuv you"

Thank you- "tink you"

Broccoli- "Brock B"

My mother in law taught him to say "Jaxon is very special" (although you have to help him say it one word at a time)

He recognizes who Mommy and daddy are and calls us by name.  He says Jaxon when I point to him

He will say "Help"-and then hold on to one of our fingers, he will lead us around and show us what he needs help with

TV- He will point to the TV when he wants it turned on

Roadtrip

Brian decided to go visit his brother and his wife out in Arizona for 5 days so Jaxon and I decided to take a road trip to visit Mimmie and Pop Pop.  Thought I could use the extra hands and time with my parents.  We also got to visit with my dad's family who live in Maryland.  They came to visit so we could celebrate my Grandad's 87th birthday.  Jaxon got into everything and stayed busy around their house.  But we had a great time.  We decided to stay an extra day because it was supposed to snow back home so that left Brian without a ride home from the airport.  He decided to volunteer and take a later flight to get a $500 voucher to fly another time.  He ended up taking a taxi home.  I was so nervous and couldn't sleep until I knew he had gotten home ok because the snow and ice started around dinner and he didn't get home until midnight.

Brian returned Tuesday night and wanted to go skiing again that weekend because Boone had just gotten some snow.  So he and a friend went for the day and Jaxon and I had a playdate with is buddy Andrew with a trip to the children's museum.

Catching up and time for reflecting

Its been almost a month and I have alot to catch up on.  Jaxon has been growing too fast for us and learning lots of things.  He is so smart.  He is constantly teaching us.  Usually I can't get our dinner ready for us to all sit down at the same time because Jaxon is whiny and ready to eat.  I will heat up his dinner and let him start eating while I get our dinner ready.  We will pray with Jaxon before he starts eating.  Then Brian and I will sit down and eat.  Jaxon will move his plate from his tray to our dinner table and wants to pray with us for our food.  He will reach for our hands and hold our hands to pray. He is quiet and will put his fingers on his eyes- to close his eyes and he will bow his head.  It is the sweetest thing.  Then at night we usually read him a story from his Bible and pray with him before he goes to bed. There are times that Brian or I will just pray with him and put him to bed because its late or we are just tired and don't take the time to read to him.  Well he is quick to say "Bible" and then how can we say no to that.

At BSF (bible study fellowship) he has learned so much this year and I am so thankful that we decided to go.  Jaxon has learned the B-I-B-L-E song, although all he says is B-I-B-I and his teachers tell me that he loves to sign and dance.

I think Jaxon has gone through a growth spurt lately and I'm getting spoiled.  He will sleep in  sometimes until 9am.  He will play and then he will nap at 1pm and sometimes will nap 3-4 hours.  Then Brian gets home and they will play and then he's ready for bed sometimes 2 hours later. Then he will still sleep for 12+ hours.

Here lately he wears me out and he can be so clingy and whiny and I feel like I can't get anything done.  He is so busy and gets into everything.  He throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way. I usually can't wait for naptime to come for him or even bedtime.  I read an article that was circulating on Facebook.  Are you wishing away what someone else is missing?? Sometimes I wish I was in a different season of life when Jaxon was a little older and wasn't so dependent.  But I know once I get there I am going to wish he was little again.  So just a reminder I need to enjoy where I am because it goes by so fast and before I know it he will b in college and be out of the house.  Enjoy him wanting to hold my hand, saying MaMa, holding him and cuddle time while he is still little, etc...

We had some fun playdates with his buddy Andrew.  Jaxon loves Andrew's fun ride on train set.

On Martin Luther King Monday we decided to take Jaxon to the doctor.  He had been running a fever off and on and just not acting himself.  Turns out he had a double ear infection and sinus infection. He started feeling so much better after he started the meds.  We were supposed to go visit my parents the next weekend so I wanted to make sure he was feeling better.

Jaxon loves to repeat words we say so we practice and try to teach him new things.  Sometimes he will say new words with out us prompting him.  One day he held something for me while we were walking down the stairs and I said thank you Jaxon and he repeated thank you- only he pronounced it "tink you" So sweet.

More photos of Jaxon having fun outside.
