Been a little busy lately

Jaxon keeps me busy during the day. Just when I think I have his schedule figured out, it changes.
Jaxon and I went to visit Mimmie and Pop Pop and left Brian home on March 21 and stayed for 5 days.  We missed Brian but it was nice to spend some extra time with my parents.  My dear friend from high school was having a baby shower and didn't want to just stay for a short weekend and Brian couldn't take off. So we went without him for a long weekend.  We visited with family, friends, and my parents' neighbors.  We loved showing him off.
Jaxon enjoyed his time with Mimmie and Pop Pop and it was nice to have 2 extra set of hands.  While mom and I were at the shower, Pop Pop babysat and they had a great time together.
He still doesn't have any teeth and he tried some new things at Mimmie and Pop Pop's house.  Beans, ground beef, chicken, and little pureed steak. I'm not having to feed him pureed stuff as much anymore.
We also went to Maryland to visit with my grandad, aunts, and uncle.

He is into everything

I can't believe how fast Jaxon has been growing and trying new things.  He is 10 months now.

He likes to eat or mainly play with maccaroni noodles.  I think he likes the way it feels.  I have been trying to add olive oil to his food to fatten him up.  He is still not gaining weight.  On March 14, we weighed him at the doctors and he was 17lbs 12oz, which means he dropped in weight.  He can still wear 9 month clothes and some 12 month.  I think its because he has become real active lately and our doctors don't think he's getting enough milk.  My mom's doctor friends have said by this age he is going to become less interested in nursing and more interested in food and is going to be very active.  They think he is fine and said not to worry about his weight.  Its hard to know what to do, but I do know he looks like a happy and healthy baby to me.

Some new foods he has tried-black beans, brown rice, ground beef, non pureed sweet potatoes and peas.  He is a real good eater.

He has been very active- he crawls and pulls himself up and gets into everything.  We have to constantly watch him.  He loves power cords.

He has been practicing walking with his walker that he got from his cousins for Christmas.

He loves being outside riding in his wagon or in the bike trailer that daddy pulls him along in.
Jaxon and his buddy Parker
He loves to ride in the bike trailer that attaches to Brian's bike
He loves to stand up and look out the window.  I think he is watching for his daddy to get home.

His friend, Parker turns 1
He went to his first birthday party.
at the party with some of my mommy friends and their babies

He is starting to make more sounds and is doing alot of baby talk/babble.

On March 15, I started to give him some formula to help him with his weight issue, which I didn't want to do.  But anything to fatten him up a little and to make sure he's getting enough nutrients.  He won't take a bottle anything, everything is in the sippy cup.

Visiting with Great Grandma in the nursing home.  All the old folks loved him. He talked to everybody

We are in TROUBLE NOW

Can't believe its been a month.  A lot has happened.  Jaxon is growing up so fast.  Its been so fun to watch him as he explores new things.

Back in January I got lucky, I didn't know what I was going to do with myself while Brian was away for a weekend.  But thankfully, Brian only left me for one night instead of being gone all weekend to go on a Men's retreat with our church.  We had snow and ice and it delayed his trip.  It was kind of lonely being by myself with Jaxon but we managed.  We were glad to have him back but I was glad he had some guy time.  We were supposed to have play time with friends and possibly a slumber party, but no one really wanted to get out on the roads.

My parents came to visit the end of January and they helped me do some redecorating.  One thing my parents helped me do was move the deer out of the living room and upstairs while Brian was at work.  I was not going to touch them.  They creep me out.  I know the deer are always looking at me.  But I had to put them somewhere because he certainly wouldn't let me get rid of them.  They are his trophies and he is very proud of them.  I did not want them in our bedroom.  The deer now have a new home in the game room/man cave.

I think my dad was not too thrilled to hold the deer

While my parents were here they were able to experience Jaxon feeding himself for the first time.  He fed himself cheerios, bananas, pears, and chicken.  Now when he eats cheerios you would think I was starving him.  He grabs a handful and sticks his whole fist in his mouth.  Most of the cheerios end up on the floor or in his high chair.

He is still teething but no sign of teeth yet just lots of drooling.
He has figured out how to sit up by himself after laying down on the floor.
He loves his swing- we will either enjoy the one in the backyard or go to a local park

He is still doing the army crawl, but loves to do the downward dog position.  It is the funniest thing
He is trying to pull up more and hold onto things to help him stand up
He loves standing up on his interactive table and will make his way around it.
He got a new toy from his friend, Parker. He loves being pushed around the house in it.
On Valentines Day we had a date with his play group.

Eligible Bachelor

Last weekend we went to Boone with some friends- the men went skiing and Jaxon and the girls went shopping.  He did really good all day.  Since I hurt my knee several years ago on the ski slopes, before Brian and I were dating, I am scared to go skiing.  I told him if he wants to go he needs to find a friend to go with because I didn't want him to go by himself.  He loves to ski and I hope one day we can go out west.

On Feb 27, I walked into his room after his nap and found him standing up in his crib.  He was so proud of himself.  I emailed Brian at work and told him we were in trouble.  Brian knew when he got home he needed to lower his crib.  I still needed to shower and get myself ready and didn't know what I was going to do with Jaxon to make sure he was safe.  My friend suggested just putting him in the pack and play with toys. So that is what I did and he had so much fun.  Now the pack and play is set up in our room.
So proud of himself

Happy 9 months!!!!

9 month photo shoot

I took him to the doctor and he weighs 18 lbs 3oz.  The doctor was a little concerned because he had only gained 3 oz since his 6 month appt.  So I had to go see a lactation consultant, which concerned me.  I was afraid she was going to tell me that I would have to start him on formula.  I felt bad because I thought it was my fault- that I was not eating enough myself or that I was starving him.  I was very pleased with our appointment.  The lactation consultant was very nice and encouraging.  She said we were not going to talk about formula.  She wanted me to eat more protein, have some milkshakes, make sure I'm eating snacks between meals, and eating enough calories.  I was excited because she just gave me permission to get milkshakes at cookout and chick fil a.  She also wanted me to make sure I was nursing him 5-6 times a day and to cut back on the food I give him.  Jaxon is at an age where he is becoming very active so that is probably the reason he is not gaining very much.  We had a weight check in 2 weeks and he had dropped from 18lbs 3oz to 17lbs 14 oz.  So we are going to give it some more time and see if he will gain some more weight at his next appointment.  Brian reassured me that I was doing a great job as a mom and we have to understand this was our first time doing this, we aren't going to know how to do everything and we are going to make mistakes.

Lastly Brian just loves having a garage at our new house.  He feels so spoiled he has never had a garage.  So thankful my hubby is handy and knows how to work on cars and fix things around the house.  Now he has a place for all his toys and hopefully he will make room for my car.

Can't believe Jaxon will be a year old in a couple of months.  Got lots of work and planning to do before his 1st Birthday party.  We love him so much and he has brought so much joy in our life.  He brings a smile to our faces everyday.
