Fall is here

We had a busy September.  I turned 34 and Jaxon had a special message for me.

"Happy Birthday, mommy.  I want some cake"

He attended a Big Brother/Big Sister class at the hospital.  He was one of the younger ones in there.  We got to look at one of the hospital rooms.  He learned how he can help with the baby, we practiced putting a diaper on and wrapping the baby up in a blanket and holding the baby.  We borrowed a baby doll from a friend and he has been practicing.  He is a little rough but knows how to give the baby a hug and a kiss. I know he is going to be a great big brother.

We went to Myrtle Beach with Aunt Sue Sue.  Jaxon had so much fun.  We stayed at this really great place that had an indoor splash pad area, a playground, and was right on the beach.  He is finally getting used to the water. We enjoyed our time together and wish daddy could have come with us.  He had lots of room to run around where we stayed.  He loved the rides at Broadway at the beach.  He loved playing in the water and the sand.  By the end of our 3 day stay he was worn out.

Lots of playtime with friends and playing outside

We had our Life Community Class over for a cookout.  The kids enjoyed playing in the water, on the playset, and with all of Jaxon's outside toys.  We love to entertain and are so blessed we have the space to do it.  Thankfully the party stayed outside so it was easy to clean up.

after our friends left, Jaxon was content just sitting and playing in his pool

We took our annual trip to Cana, VA to get apples, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes.  We got 5 bushels of apples and will be making lots of applesauce.  Jaxon enjoyed sampling the apples and loved eating it whole.

On September 24th we decided to put Jaxon in his big boy bed for bedtime.  I wasn't going to force him.  But he seemed ready and excited.  I don't think I was ready to see our little boy grow up.  The single bed that came from my parents house had been set up in the playroom, which will be his new room.  Since he plays in there he's been able to get used to the bed.  He's played on it with his toys.  We finally got the black out curtains and the bed rail set up.  My parents got him truck bedding which he loves.  The first night was a success, although it took him a while to fall asleep.  He stays in his bed, but loves to look out the window.  I've been spoiled since he usually sleeps in.  But he has been waking up at 7am, which I am not liking.  But he still takes a 3-4 hour nap each day.  His room is above the garage, so he usually hears Brian leave for work in the morning.  We got a new monitor that scans the room and we can talk to him, which freaks him out cause he can't figure out where the voice is coming from.  When he was in his crib he didn't like pillows, toys, or blankets to be in there with him.  Now he loves to get under the covers and sleep on his pillow.  He is a very active sleeper and has many different positions.  So its funny to watch him on the monitor.
On September 30 we were successful at naptime in his new bed.  He told me when it was time for naptime "big bed" so I tried it out and it worked.  I had friends tell me that naptime usually was the hardest.  Thankful that this transition hasn't been as hard as I thought.

Bed head the morning after his first night in his big bed

My inlaws have been gone for a month and we have been taking care of Belle, their dog. Thankfully she stays outside and has a collar she wears to keep her in the yard. I am not a dog person, so it has been a little adjustment having her around.  But it hasn't been too bad.  Jaxon loves chasing her and feeding her.  When we pull up to the house he likes to say "hey belle" and when we leave he says "bye bye belle"  He doesn't like it when Belle gets in his face or licks his hand.  He wants me to clean off his hands if she licks him.

Funny Things about Jaxon
At bedtime we usually read a bible story, sing to him, and pray with him.  Brian has been doing bedtime routine which he loves.  Since he has been in his big boy bed we have done it together.  One night all 3 of us were laying in his bed.  He was sandwiched between us.  These days my belly is growing so I take up some space on his single bed.  Jaxon knows he needs to scoot over for me to make room.  One night he said to me "mommy too big." While it was funny at the time it amazes me how smart he is getting and the things that he comes up with.

First thing he talks about when he wakes up is daddy's truck

Whats' that?

Has me bring certain toys upstairs at naptime or bedtime or back downstairs when he wakes up

He will tell you when he has a poopy diaper.  He is still using the potty before bath, but thats about it
He will also tell you that he's farted.

He is a broken record saying things over and over again.  But its fun to hear him learn new words.

He thinks he and daddy are having a baby too- he will lift up his shirt and point to his belly

He loves to watch Veggie Tales in the morning and listen to the songs in the car.
He loves to color and draw with chalk and play with playdough.
He is really good at cleaning up his toys inside and outside.
He loves to sit and read his books in his chair.
He loves the movie cars and playing with his Mater and Lightening Mcqueen cars

Jaxon is a very happy active almost 2.5 year old.  I am so thankful he is a good sleeper and seems to transition well.  I hope baby #2 is this easy.
