Summer is almost over, what happened in August?

It seems like August just flew by and now school is back in session.  It is still hot so I'm looking forward to it cooling down soon.  This pregnant mama can't take the heat.

We had lots of fun stuff going on in August.

We traveled one weekend to Virginia to see my parents and went to Maryland for the Kmiec family reunion. We had alot of food and some yummy crabs.  On our way home we had to stop at Bass Pro shop so Jaxon could run around.  He loves looking at the boats and getting on the ATVs and other vehicles.

We brought home a truck and trailer load full of stuff for Jaxon's new room.  I'm not in any hurry to move him yet.  He hasn't successfully tried to climb out of his crib. So I want him contained as long as possible.  We were blessed to get my dad's old bedroom furniture from when he was a boy.  Most of it was at my grandad's house and he passed away a few months ago.  So they were clearing out his house and Jaxon now has a new bed, dresser, desk and night stand.  Mimmie and Pop Pop helped us get a new comforter and sheet set for his new bed.  Eventually he will move into the playroom.  So while he still plays in there I figured he can get used to having his new bed in there.  So far he loves to play on it.  I still have some redecorating to do.  Don't worry the deer will have a new home.  Jaxon loves his trucks pillow.

We had a fun time at the splash pad.  He actually loves the water.

We had a playdate with his buddy Andrew.  He loves Andrew's train the only problem is they are both 2 years old and are having trouble with sharing.  Then they came to our house and we had alot of fun playing outside.

Fun things that Jaxon is talking about:
He likes to put his hands in his pocket and say that there is money in there.  He came up to Brian one day and said "I want some money, daddy"
When we pray before meals or before bed Jaxon wants to join in and add to the prayer and make sure we pray for the important things "thank you trains, thank you trucks, thank you tractors, thank you coptaters (helicopters), thank you horses, thank you friends" sometimes he will add in specific people's names.

Thankfully Jaxon is still taking a 3 hour nap most days.  He loves to sit at his little table to eat.  He loves to watch Veggie Tales and loves the movie Cars, which we don't have and he can only watch it at Mimmie and Pop Pop's house.  He loves to play with his trains when he wakes up and before bedtime and some in between.

He does pretty good on long car rides.  He tends to entertain himself reading books, playing with his cars, trains, trucks, or tractors.  We bring CDs to listen to and he loves to sing.  He loves to help sing Jesus Loves Me at night.  We aren't a big fan of having a DVD player in the car for trips but so far so good with him being content and entertaining himself.

When its time to leave the house or go to bed he does a good job of putting his toys away.  When we leave the upstairs certain doors have to be closed too.  Its almost an OCD thing.  I guess he gets that from me.

Sometimes it can be hard for him to leave his toys, especially his trains, before nap or bedtime.  But we found that if we tell him to tell his toys night night or goodbye thats enough closure for him.

If I am playing with him and he wants me to follow him he says, "mon mommy mon" (for come on mommy)

He is learning so many words everyday.  Sometimes I wonder where he picks the words up.

We are thankful that our good friend works at the YMCA near our house.  They have a really cool splash pad that Jaxon loves.  So after nap we went there for the evening and met our friends there and had alot of fun.

He loves to go to parks and play outside.  One day we went to a park and he found an abandoned lightening mcqueen motorized car that he decided to hog the whole time we were there.  It wasn't really abandoned but the owner wasn't on it at the time.  Jaxon thought it was his and had a hard time sharing and giving it back.

To be continued.....
