Can't believe its been a month. A lot has happened. Jaxon is growing up so fast. Its been so fun to watch him as he explores new things.
Back in January I got lucky, I didn't know what I was going to do with myself while Brian was away for a weekend. But thankfully, Brian only left me for one night instead of being gone all weekend to go on a Men's retreat with our church. We had snow and ice and it delayed his trip. It was kind of lonely being by myself with Jaxon but we managed. We were glad to have him back but I was glad he had some guy time. We were supposed to have play time with friends and possibly a slumber party, but no one really wanted to get out on the roads.
My parents came to visit the end of January and they helped me do some redecorating. One thing my parents helped me do was move the deer out of the living room and upstairs while Brian was at work. I was not going to touch them. They creep me out. I know the deer are always looking at me. But I had to put them somewhere because he certainly wouldn't let me get rid of them. They are his trophies and he is very proud of them. I did not want them in our bedroom. The deer now have a new home in the game room/man cave.
I think my dad was not too thrilled to hold the deer
While my parents were here they were able to experience Jaxon feeding himself for the first time. He fed himself cheerios, bananas, pears, and chicken. Now when he eats cheerios you would think I was starving him. He grabs a handful and sticks his whole fist in his mouth. Most of the cheerios end up on the floor or in his high chair.
He is still teething but no sign of teeth yet just lots of drooling.
He has figured out how to sit up by himself after laying down on the floor.
He loves his swing- we will either enjoy the one in the backyard or go to a local park
He is still doing the army crawl, but loves to do the downward dog position. It is the funniest thing
He is trying to pull up more and hold onto things to help him stand up
He loves standing up on his interactive table and will make his way around it.
He got a new toy from his friend, Parker. He loves being pushed around the house in it.
On Valentines Day we had a date with his play group.
Eligible Bachelor
Last weekend we went to Boone with some friends- the men went skiing and Jaxon and the girls went shopping. He did really good all day. Since I hurt my knee several years ago on the ski slopes, before Brian and I were dating, I am scared to go skiing. I told him if he wants to go he needs to find a friend to go with because I didn't want him to go by himself. He loves to ski and I hope one day we can go out west.
On Feb 27, I walked into his room after his nap and found him standing up in his crib. He was so proud of himself. I emailed Brian at work and told him we were in trouble. Brian knew when he got home he needed to lower his crib. I still needed to shower and get myself ready and didn't know what I was going to do with Jaxon to make sure he was safe. My friend suggested just putting him in the pack and play with toys. So that is what I did and he had so much fun. Now the pack and play is set up in our room.
So proud of himself

Happy 9 months!!!!
9 month photo shoot
I took him to the doctor and he weighs 18 lbs 3oz. The doctor was a little concerned because he had only gained 3 oz since his 6 month appt. So I had to go see a lactation consultant, which concerned me. I was afraid she was going to tell me that I would have to start him on formula. I felt bad because I thought it was my fault- that I was not eating enough myself or that I was starving him. I was very pleased with our appointment. The lactation consultant was very nice and encouraging. She said we were not going to talk about formula. She wanted me to eat more protein, have some milkshakes, make sure I'm eating snacks between meals, and eating enough calories. I was excited because she just gave me permission to get milkshakes at cookout and chick fil a. She also wanted me to make sure I was nursing him 5-6 times a day and to cut back on the food I give him. Jaxon is at an age where he is becoming very active so that is probably the reason he is not gaining very much. We had a weight check in 2 weeks and he had dropped from 18lbs 3oz to 17lbs 14 oz. So we are going to give it some more time and see if he will gain some more weight at his next appointment. Brian reassured me that I was doing a great job as a mom and we have to understand this was our first time doing this, we aren't going to know how to do everything and we are going to make mistakes.
Lastly Brian just loves having a garage at our new house. He feels so spoiled he has never had a garage. So thankful my hubby is handy and knows how to work on cars and fix things around the house. Now he has a place for all his toys and hopefully he will make room for my car.
Can't believe Jaxon will be a year old in a couple of months. Got lots of work and planning to do before his 1st Birthday party. We love him so much and he has brought so much joy in our life. He brings a smile to our faces everyday.
