Our Summer is over and Fall is near

As soon as we got back from Ecuador, Brian started back to work and his students came right away. I was not ready for him to go back to work.  It was nice to have the extra family time and have him at home with me and Jaxon this summer.  But we felt like we didn't have much of a summer.  It went by really fast.

Jaxon and I had a lunch date with my dear friend Kristen.

We went to my parents house the weekend of August 23-25 for a family reunion in Maryland.  Even if it was for a short weekend we enjoyed spending time with my dad's extended family especially since we don't get to see them often.  Jaxon enjoyed cleaning house and spending time with Mimmie, Pop Pop, Aunt Meredith, and cousin MG.

Jaxon had been trying to walk but never really got consistent until the weekend we were at my parents and at the reunion.  He really took off while we were outside and it was hard to keep up with him especially since he kept getting close to the water.  He wore us out.  All those times I was worried that he hadn't started walking yet and was falling behind some of his friends, I don't know why I was rushing things.  But it has been fun to see him explore and take off on his own.

After we returned from the reunion his 3rd tooth started to come in. He has 2 on the bottom and now working on the top.

Brian's parents, Brian, Jaxon, and I went to Lake Norman on Labor Day.  We grilled out, Jaxon had fun playing outside in his wagon, and we took the jet ski out on the water.  I am so glad that we took the wagon.  It was a lifesaver. Mental note- Never leave home without it.  I couldn't believe it, he lasted all day without a nap.

September 3 was my birthday and my parents decided to surprise me when we came back from the lake.  What a nice surprise!!!! Jaxon decided he wanted to start feeding himself with a spoon. What a nice birthday gift. We also had lunch with some friends we hadn't seen in a while- the Reece's.  Jaxon got a special cup from the restaurant and loved drinking from a straw.

Later in the week, Brian took me out for my birthday and we had dinner while my mother in law watched Jaxon.  So thankful for date nights.

September 5- We hosted play group at our house.  So thankful for friends that Jaxon can play with and for moms who I can relate to.

September 6- We decided to check out music time at a local store. Jaxon sat in my lap for a short time to listen and sing along and play with some of the musical instruments but it didn't last long. Jaxon's friend listened and paid attention.  Jaxon was more interested in the toys that were in the store.  He found his favorite toy- a wagon-surprise, surprise.  He pulled it around the store and then wanted to get in it.  Then at the grocery store he was happy when he got to ride in the shopping cart.

1st Friday discount at the Children's museum- Brian had never been before.  He was a trooper.  After a long week we had family time and met up with other families to watch our kids run around and play.

Since everybody in Greensboro has been to Yum Yums except us we decided to go there for dinner.
They serve hot dogs and ice cream.  It was something we had to experience.

Jaxon spent the night with his grandparents because Brian and I had an Ecuador Team reunion at a cabin along the Dan River.  Thank you Smith family for hosting.  We had a great time reconnecting and it was nice to have some adult time.  We had fun tubing, the guys fished, and we ate good food.

Jaxon is getting more fussy at times and doesn't want to be held or doesn't want you to hold his hand, he would rather get down and run around.  This can get challenging especially while out shopping at the grocery store.  Sometimes he doesn't want to be in the shopping cart.  So I am praying for patience most days.

Brian stays busy at school with the new administration this year.  We are both tired when he gets home. He still finds some energy to chase Jaxon around and laugh with each other.  They love spending time together. He also will give him a bath, read him a story, pray, and sing to him at night.  I love that they get to bond together most nights.

On September 9 right before dinner we said, "Jaxon we're going to pray, he folded his hands and bowed his head."  It was the sweetest thing.

He loves to mow our grass and the carpet. He loves to climb on things and do things by himself. We finally him a new carseat and found a great deal at Babies R Us.  We went to the fire dept and had it installed and they gave Jaxon a fire hat.  He likes to wear his new hat.

We love watching Jaxon grow and try new things.  He has also moved up to the seahorse class at church.  He loves his new teachers, friends, and toys that he gets to play with.  He is growing too fast for us.
