We celebrated Kaelyn's actual birthday at home. Brian brought home a cupcake for each of them and a balloon. Then a week and a half later we had a little party for her with a few friends and family.
Kaelyn loved her cupcake.
Brian went out of town the first weekend in November. He went to New York. I took the kids to the airport to drop him off. Jaxon loved watching the airplanes but didn't quite understand where daddy was going. Thankfully my inlaws spent the weekend with us. It was great to have some extra hands and I was able to get out to run some errands. On Sunday we went back to the airport to pick up daddy. Jaxon got a special treat from daddy. "Why did I get this daddy?" cause you are special and I bought you a treat. "Its not an eating treat"
Jaxon's funny sayings...
"I love mommy, the best." What about daddy? "No, I just love you the best"
"Mommy did you know I like helicopters, they're pretty cool."
"I love you mommy" Do you love daddy? "Daddy is not a girl, I just love my mommy"
In the middle of the night Jaxon is dreaming and talking, he says "daddy I want a muffin"
Kaelyn had her 1 year well visit
Weight: 17lbs 10 oz
Height: 28"
They said she looks great. I've already begun to wean her which is kind of sad. I started cutting back on nursing her when she was around 1 year. To date on November 16 I'm down to 2 feedings. At naptime and bedtime. I was a little nervous about cutting her morning feeding down and having her drop her morning nap but she sleeps great. I've either had to wake her up or she wakes up between 9:00-10:00, depending on what we have going on. I'm glad she is still sleeping later because it gives me time to spend with Jaxon in the morning. He usually wakes up around 7. I'm still working on getting up early so I have time to myself, but it doesn't seem to happen until naptime. Kaelyn tends to get tired earlier for nap which means I need to be prepared to feed her lunch on time. She usually naps 1:30 until about 4:30-5, which is about the same time Jaxon will nap. Then they both start heading upstairs for bath and bed around 8-8:30.
She's started to pull up on things but still likes to crawl all over the place. She has 2 teeth on the bottom and 1 just about through on top and starting to cut a few more on top.
Went to Whole Foods to kill time while Brian was getting our computer fixed at the apple store. I told Jaxon he could ride his favorite (the car carts). Well we got in there and somebody had already snatched it and was using it. That was the only working one they had. Jaxon cried. I told him somebody was using it and we would have to wait our turn. So we pretty much stalked the family around the store and got the buggy when they were done.
On Veterans Day Jaxon and Brian met "Uncle Eric" at his lake house and they went fishing. Jaxon caught 2 fish. He had trouble reeling it in so Brian had to help. As soon as it came out of the water, Jaxon ran. He said "its going to eat me" Brian wanted Jaxon to stand next to the fish so he could get a picture. Jaxon said he woke up the fish. It was pretty funny.
We celebrated Kaelyn's Sweet Pea Birthday with a few friends from church and 2 of our neighbors and my parents that morning. So glad my parents were able to come for the weekend. It was so good to spend time with them. My very talented friend, Alison, designed the decorations and invitations for me.
I tried to do things simple. After all we had a lot to celebrate as parents, we survived having a daughter for a whole year. My friend designed the decorations for me. I made a wreath for the front door. I made some of the food ahead of time, which made things easier. Brian thought it wasn't simple, but it was. It was just a little crazy the morning of. We had snap pea crisp, pea/edamame hummus, grapes with lime jello sprinkled on top, green spinach muffins. I made green oreo balls for the favors that looked like pea pods. I also made little pea pods out of airheads and appleheads for decoration. I made and decorated the cupcakes, which was so fun and I made her smash cake. The smash cake was a betty crocker recipe that had bananas in it and yogurt and cream cheese for the frosting and real peas on top for decoration. Kaelyn loved it so much she stuck her face in it. I made her tulle skirt and onesie. I just did an iron on with one of the graphics from the decor. She wasn't too fond of her skirt at first.
We had some family to come over that night for dinner. My parents of course were there and Brian's parents, aunt, and cousin, and "Uncle Eric" as well.
We had barbeque, slaw, baked beans, green mac and cheese (made out of broccoli, peas, and spinach) and cupcakes for dessert. Kaelyn ate more of her cake.
So thankful for this little girl and all of our support from family and friends. It was so fun celebrating our Sweet Pea.
Can't believe our little girl is 1.
