Jaxon and Baby Kate

Jaxon is really growing and talking to us more in his baby language of coos and ohs and gives us plenty of smiles.  Brian will talk to him and imitate his noises and Jaxon will talk back.  He's become more animated and its so much fun to watch him.  He is more alert and loves his tummy time on his playmat.
He loves to sleep and we love to watch him in his many different positions.
He is starting to outgrown some of his clothes already. It's so sad I'm going to have to box up some of his cute clothes.  He is wearing mostly 3 month clothes, but it depends on the brand.  We put a 3-6month onesie and it was a little big. People were right babies do grow fast.

I was such a bad mom this week. Poor thing missed his bathtime and I could tell he needed one because his hands were starting to smell.  We got up early and gave him one before church and we were just a little bit late to church.

Jaxon had a great week this week visiting with friends.  We made a trip to see my dear friend, Cathy.  I couldn't wait for them to meet.  She is a great mentor, friend, and mother to me. Her family adopted me when I was in college and they are very special to me.  She is going to be a grandma very soon.  So Jaxon was giving her some practice.

Jaxon loves time with his daddy

Our friend Amy brought us our last meal.  We've been so blessed to have our friends bring us dinner over the past 6 weeks.  Thank you all so much.  Now one of my goals is to plan our meals out for the week.  We don't go out to eat much and we love to cook, so I can't wait to try out some new healthy recipes.

We took a rode trip to see my friend Michelle, her daughter Kate, her mom Denise, and sister Jacqueline.  Jaxon was supposed to be born first, but I guess Kate just couldn't wait to enter the world.  Kate is 1 month older than Jaxon and they had fun being together.  Looks like we better watch Jaxon, he is starting early and has found himself a girlfriend already :)

My friend Allie also stopped by while Jaxon was having a playdate with Kate to meet Jaxon for the first time.  Her little one should arrive in 3 weeks.  Can't wait to meet her little guy.  So excited to have alot of mommy friends that have babies around Jaxon's age.

Brian definitely has a green thumb.  If I was in charge all my plants would die.  My hubby is so talented and handy.  He built the lattice for the tomatoes.  He also put together a watering system for our veggies with PVC pipe on a timer.  So if we have to go out of town or we are gone all day it gets watered.  We have tomatoes, eggplant, cucumber, squash, green pepper, fresh dill, oregano, basil, mint, and chives. Pretty good for growing all this in pots, don't you think?

My handy husband also made these candy dispensers.  I can't wait for us to find a bigger house that has room for a workshop.  He loves his tools and really could use a place to build things instead of using our front porch or back patio or a place to store his tools instead of different places around the house.    After we got married and he moved in he didn't have much space for his stuff because I had been living there for at least 4 years and kind of took over the house with all my things.
He has made a bunch of them and is selling them for $35.  They make a great gift and you can put M&Ms or other small candy, or nuts. Let me know if you would like one.

This is what Brian decided to put over our candy dispenser.  He said the M&Ms were just for decoration.  He knows I love my chocolate and he is trying to help me loose my baby fat.

I love getting together with some of my girlfriends and their babies during the week to go walking.  That has helped me get out of the house for some girl time and good exercise and Jaxon seems to like it too.  So if I can continue exercising and try to stay away from those M&Ms then I'll be on my way to loosing this baby fat.

1st road trip

6 weeks and 12 lbs last week according to nurse Penny that stopped by the house to check on us.
So thankful that Brian finished with work last week.  Looking forward to having family time all summer and an extra set of hands.  Gotta love working as a teacher.

Mimmie and Pop Pop came to visit on their way to see my mom's family in South Carolina.
Carol and Roger came to visit too. They hadn't met Jaxon yet.

More friends to bring us a meal

Friday we packed up to go to South Carolina so Jaxon could meet his great grandparents.  He slept the whole way there.  So thankful for the peace and quiet.  We stayed with my aunt and uncle.  My aunt enjoyed loving on Jaxon.  Jaxon also got to meet his great great aunt and uncle and cousins.
Excited to hold her 4th great grandchild
Grandmama and Papa (Jaxon's Great Grandparents)
 Great Uncle Jim
Great Aunt Lillian
visiting with Jaxon's Great Great Aunt Betty and Uncle David

We celebrated Brian's 1st Father's Day with my aunt and uncle, Grandmama and Papa.  So blessed to have a wonderful hubby and wonderful father to Jaxon.
Jaxon's present to his daddy

We stopped by my cousin Mary Catherine and Douglas's house to have brunch.  Jaxon had his first play date with some cousins.  Jaxon really didn't play he slept and ate.  Maybe next time we see them and he's a little older he will be able to play.  Mary Catherine and Douglas's little girl, Caroline, and Frances and Kyle's little boy, Lucas.  Can't wait for these little ones to get older.

We came back home on Monday and he was a little fussier but over all he did pretty good.
I think it was because we made some pit stops on the way home making for a longer afternoon and evening.  We stopped to get some peaches and homemade peach ice cream at a fruit stand and walked around an outlet mall, which he loved :)  Love my hubby he let me stop by my favorite store- The Loft and get a few things.  We got home way past his bedtime.

Jaxon did so good on his first road trip. It was a pretty relaxing weekend and I am glad that we could visit family.

Can't believe Jaxon is already 12lbs.  His neck is getting stronger and he continues to hold his head up.  So thankful he is still sleeping through the night.  He goes to bed 8-9pm and wakes up around 5-6am.
His legs are really strong and he enjoys kicking and pushing off.  Loves to suck on his thumb and hand.
He is cooing and making more noises.  He is starting to smile a little.
We are hoping to transition to a bottle this week that way Brian can help feed him.
We still need to put him in his own bed in the nursery and start on cloth diapers.  We are going to try the bottles first.

1 month old

Happy 1 month

Jaxon had his newborn pictures taken and was wide awake the whole time.
his favorite outfit to wear to church (tie onesie)
Blanket that his Aunt Meredith, Uncle Michael, and cousin MG gave to him
blanket that Brian's grandmother made for him when he was a baby and now Jaxon gets to enjoy it
his little feet

Last week on June 4 Jaxon turned 1 month old.  Can't believe we've had our little guy for a whole month.  Currently he is wearing 0-3 months but some are getting too small for him and most 3 month sized clothes.  Time has really flown by.  His neck muscles are getting stronger and he continues to try to hold his head up for longer periods of time.  His eyes are more focused and he loves to look around.  He loves his swing and he loves tummy time on his activity mat .  He is very content in those and have been helpful in the morning when I'm getting ready.  He still enjoys bathtime.

Our little burrito
Thanks to my sister and my mom for mentioning that I should swaddle him so that he looks like a burrito he has been sleeping through the night for the past week. We will put him to bed between 8-9pm and he won't wake up to be fed until 5 or 5:30.  It has been wonderful.

He also had his 1 month check up at the doctor.  Dr. A said that he looks great.
weight- 11 lbs 12.5 oz
length- 22 inches
head- 39.5 cm

I had my follow up appointment with the doctor and Jaxon came with me.  So thankful he behaved himself.

We also met with our real estate agent and are eager to start working with her.  Praying that in the coming months God will show us where we are supposed to move to and will have the perfect house in the area.

More friends to come to visit to meet Jaxon and bring us dinner.  So blessed!!

Wednesday night Uncle Jason and Aunt Anne came to visit and meet Jaxon for the first time.  We had a great weekend with them and with the rest of the family.

4 weeks old...

Well Jaxon is growing like a weed he turned 4 weeks last week.  Time has flown by and we are enjoying every moment we have with him.  We decided to take advantage of the nice weather over memorial day weekend and checked out a new place to hike.  Jaxon enjoyed his first hike in his ergo.  I think he slept through the whole thing, only because he was up against Brian's chest which is his favorite position.  It felt great to get out and get some exercise.
Jaxon got his first massage.  We went to a free infant massage class with his buddy Parker and his mom.  I was very proud of him, he was alert the whole time.  I think he enjoyed it.  Just need to make time to practice at home.

I left Brian alone with him for an hour or so, so I could go get my haircut.  I felt pretty free when I left the house without him but it also felt weird not having him with me.  It was like I was forgetting something.  When I returned Brian said he slept the whole time.  So glad he behaved himself.

So thankful for more friends to bring us dinner and meet Jaxon last week.

We found an awesome deal we couldn't pass up at Dick's Sporting Goods.  Although Jaxon can't enjoy it until he is a little older we will just have to find a place for it until then.  Looking forward to going bike riding with him.

We went to visit my friend Kristen at work to have lunch with her.

Over the nice weekend we decided to be spontaneous.  We went house hunting, had a picnic lunch at a local park, and took Jaxon for a walk.

We had such a God thing happen when we went house hunting.  We aren't looking to move right away, but thought we should start looking since we have time this summer.  We just need something a little bigger than our townhouse.  Although I don't like change and am pretty content where we are at, it was kind of exciting for us to go looking. We found a house online that we wanted to go look at.  Great price that we could afford.  It looked like a great starter house, nice wrap around porch, deck, and huge front yard.  We didn't get to see the inside of the house but got to peek in the windows.  We later found out that in the near future there will be some major road construction going on like 1,000 feet from the house.  So bummed, and had to mark that house off the list.  Unfortunately most of the houses in the area where we were looking we couldn't afford, but were hoping we would stumble upon a great deal.   We went across the street to a neighborhood- beautiful houses that were huge and definitely too much for us.  But we wanted to look anyways.  There was an open house that we decided to check out.  We thought maybe we could meet the realtor and they could help us look for something that we could afford in the area.  We walked into this gorgeous house and they told us it was sold the night before but they decided to have the open house anyways.  As we got to talking to the lady we found out she goes to our church and her daughter/son in law just had a baby and goes to our church as well and would be joining our new Sunday School class on Sunday.  How cool is that?
So we decided to talk with the realtor further and wanted her help with our house hunt.  So excited to see what God has in store for us.

On Sunday we went to church to our new Sunday School class.  We are in a class with other couples with young kids.  So thankful to be with other couples that are in our same stage of life.  We were able to meet our realtor's daughter in Sunday School.  He did better in service and ended up sleeping through Sunday School.

Jaxon has been trying to hold his head up more and is very alert and enjoys to look around.  He tends to be a little fussier lately.  So I make sure he's been fed and his diaper has been changed but sometimes that doesn't help.  He enjoys laying on Brian's chest, his bouncy seat that vibrates and laying on his activity mat.  At night when he gets fussy I sing to him and that seems to calm him down too.  I remember growing up when my parents would put me to bed, my mom would rub my back and sing to me.

Lately I've been singing Amazing Grace and Because He Lives to Jaxon at night.  I haven't mastered all of the verses.  But I pray that he will sing with me one day and will come to know God's love for him.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.
