Sweet Pea's Birthday

I can't believe Sweet Pea turns one this month and Jaxon will be 3 1/2.  We had to celebrate both because we couldn't leave Jaxon out.

We celebrated Kaelyn's actual birthday at home.  Brian brought home a cupcake for each of them and a balloon. Then a week and a half later we had a little party for her with a few friends and family.
Kaelyn loved her cupcake.

Brian went out of town the first weekend in November.  He went to New York.  I took the kids to the airport to drop him off.  Jaxon loved watching the airplanes but didn't quite understand where daddy was going.  Thankfully my inlaws spent the weekend with us.  It was great to have some extra hands and I was able to get out to run some errands.  On Sunday we went back to the airport to pick up daddy.  Jaxon got a special treat from daddy. "Why did I get this daddy?"  cause you are special and I bought you a treat.  "Its not an eating treat"
He got a pretty cool airplane.

Jaxon's funny sayings...
"I love mommy, the best." What about daddy? "No, I just love you the best"
"Mommy did you know I like helicopters, they're pretty cool."
"I love you mommy" Do you love daddy? "Daddy is not a girl, I just love my mommy"
In the middle of the night Jaxon is dreaming and talking, he says "daddy I want a muffin"

Kaelyn had her 1 year well visit
Weight: 17lbs 10 oz
Height: 28"
head: 45 3/4 cm

They said she looks great.  I've already begun to wean her which is kind of sad. I started cutting back on nursing her when she was around 1 year.  To date on November 16 I'm down to 2 feedings.  At naptime and bedtime. I was a little nervous about cutting her morning feeding down and having her drop her morning nap but she sleeps great.  I've either had to wake her up or she wakes up between 9:00-10:00, depending on what we have going on.  I'm glad she is still sleeping later because it gives me time to spend with Jaxon in the morning.  He usually wakes up around 7.  I'm still working on getting up early so I have time to myself, but it doesn't seem to happen until naptime.  Kaelyn tends to get tired earlier for nap which means I need to be prepared to feed her lunch on time. She usually naps 1:30 until about 4:30-5, which is about the same time Jaxon will nap.  Then they both start heading upstairs for bath and bed around 8-8:30.
She's started to pull up on things but still likes to crawl all over the place.  She has 2 teeth on the bottom and 1 just about through on top and starting to cut a few more on top.

Went to Whole Foods to kill time while Brian was getting our computer fixed at the apple store.  I told Jaxon he could ride his favorite (the car carts).  Well we got in there and somebody had already snatched it and was using it.  That was the only working one they had.  Jaxon cried.  I told him somebody was using it and we would have to wait our turn.  So we pretty much stalked the family around the store and got the buggy when they were done.

On Veterans Day Jaxon and Brian met "Uncle Eric" at his lake house and they went fishing. Jaxon caught 2 fish.  He had trouble reeling it in so Brian had to help.  As soon as it came out of the water, Jaxon ran.  He said "its going to eat me" Brian wanted Jaxon to stand next to the fish so he could get a picture.  Jaxon said he woke up the fish.  It was pretty funny.

We celebrated Kaelyn's Sweet Pea Birthday with a few friends from church and 2 of our neighbors and my parents that morning.  So glad my parents were able to come for the weekend.  It was so good to spend time with them.  My very talented friend, Alison, designed the decorations and invitations for me.

I tried to do things simple.  After all we had a lot to celebrate as parents, we survived having a daughter for a whole year.  My friend designed the decorations for me.  I made a wreath for the front door. I made some of the food ahead of time, which made things easier.  Brian thought it wasn't simple, but it was.  It was just a little crazy the morning of.  We had snap pea crisp, pea/edamame hummus, grapes with lime jello sprinkled on top, green spinach muffins.  I made green oreo balls for the favors that looked like pea pods.  I also made little pea pods out of airheads and appleheads for decoration.  I made and decorated the cupcakes, which was so fun and I made her smash cake.  The smash cake was a betty crocker recipe that had bananas in it and yogurt and cream cheese for the frosting and real peas on top for decoration. Kaelyn loved it so much she stuck her face in it. I made her tulle skirt and onesie.  I just did an iron on with one of the graphics from the decor.  She wasn't too fond of her skirt at first.

We had some family to come over that night for dinner. My parents of course were there and Brian's parents, aunt, and cousin, and "Uncle Eric" as well.
We had barbeque, slaw, baked beans, green mac and cheese (made out of broccoli, peas, and spinach) and cupcakes for dessert.  Kaelyn ate more of her cake.

So thankful for this little girl and all of our support from family and friends.  It was so fun celebrating our Sweet Pea.
Can't believe our little girl is 1.

A recap of October

11 months old

Life is rough

All clean

Luke's birthday and fun with a balloon.  the balloon even had to go in time out, he was devastated

Bike rides and walks and a new double bike trailer

Kenton, our neighborhood buddy, turned 1.  So thankful for this family.

Our neighbor just made his day by letting him ride their john deere tractor- he hasn't forgotten about it.  Everytime we walk down their way he wants to ride their tractor.

On October 17 my dear friend Kristen got married and we were able to go the wedding.  We had trouble finding a babysitter and then we were worried that Jaxon was coming down with something.  I told Brian that we were going to the wedding somehow even if I went by myself.  So thankful we were able to go.  She waited for God's best and He blessed her with a great husband.  I'm so happy for her.

The kids ended up being sick the next week. Jaxon threw up early one morning and had diarrhea. Then Kaelyn had the croup and thankfully it wasn't bad enough to go to the hospital.  I was so glad Brian stayed home one day to help me out.

On October 24 we went to the mountains for the day with the inlaws to see the leaves and get more apples and pumpkins.  We had been cooped up in the house and it was nice to be able to get out.  After we got back Jaxon went home with my inlaws for a few days which was a nice break.

Oct 29 we went to Tractor+ treat at a local farm.  They had all kinds of vehicles for the kids to climb on.  We met up with a few friends there too.  Jaxon had so much fun.

Oct 29 Jaxon went to the dentist and it didn't go so well this time.  They said its not unusual for this age because they are more aware of things.  He was afriad of the chair so I had to hold him.  I'm thankful for people there that would hold Kaelyn for me. He dressed up in his costume and he got a special treat from the dentist (a bag of non candy goodies)

We carved our monster truck pumpkin the day before halloween.  Jaxon didn't last long.  He didn't like his hands getting dirty.  So daddy ended up doing most of it.

We aren't really big into Halloween but I still love to dress up the kids and go to our church for the pumpkin bash, although this year we missed it because we were doing too much that day.  Instead we went to another church for their festival that morning and then had a laid back evening.  Jaxon enjoyed passing out tracts and candy to the neighborhood kids.  He called it "ticket treats"  Jaxon was a monkey and Kaelyn was a giraffe (same costume Jaxon wore for his first Halloween) Can you tell them apart?

they love to ride together in the shopping cart

I caught Kaelyn crawling behind the love seat

She loves to give hugs to her daddy

She loves to crawl through the tunnel

She loves to climb on daddy when he is laying on the floor

She loves to feed herself cheerios, turkey, peas, and is starting to eat more real food. She has quite an appetite

She squeals when she sees me pick her up from nursery
She loves her brother

Jaxon makes me laugh and I never know whats going to come out of his mouth.
looking out his window he sees our neighbor, "There's Miss Mindy going to work"
We talk later and I tell him, How do you know what Miss Mindy drives, I don't even remember, he says "a car"
"Put sweet pea in her corner"
"is that funny? good I'm glad its funny"
picking up colorful leaves with Jaxon I go after a really pretty one, Jaxon says, "no Mommy don't go over there a snake will bite you and then I won't have a mommy."
"when the road is broken the construction vehicles need to fix it"
I think we have a serious problem- I was fixing my coffee and Jaxon said, "mommy can I have some." I said no.  Coffee is for mommy and daddy.  Then he said, when I go to maw maw and paw paw's house I can get coffee.  (They made the mistake of giving him some while he was at their house)
Mommy did you know I like helicopters, they're pretty cool
"I love you mommy." I love you too, do you love daddy? "Daddy is not a girl, I just love my mommy"

we pass CVS, and Jaxon says, "oh mommy lets go buy some vitamins for me"
We were in the car at the rest stop and Jaxon sees a man on the sidewalk smoking, he says "mommy whats that man blowing"
We were in the car driving and Jaxon says,"mommy I wish I could be a man, but I'm a boy"
He bit his tongue pretty bad the other week.  While drinking a smoothie for breakfast he says, "Oh mommy I need to let me tongue rest and not drink the smoothie because it might get stuck and then my tongue will get broken."
"I'm going to see great grandma tomorrow" I said oh really are you doing to drive there?  He said, "No Paw Paw's going to take me. Big boys drive maw maws car not little boys"
Jaxon's leg was red and he said maw maw and paw paw put gasoline on my leg, cause it was itching and it made it feel better

He loves to help me in the kitchen.  We've made muffins and pumpkin spice playdough.

He loves to sit in the big part of the shopping cart so he can help me when its time to check out.  He will put our stuff on the check out counter.

He loves to give his sister hugs and kisses before naptime and bedtime

He's pretty good about sharing his toys with her and makes sure she doesn't put them in her mouth.
He loves to line up his cars and has quite an imagination when he plays.
