OBX Family Beach Trip

God's creation on the way to the beach

our house for the week

It's been a long time since the whole family has been on vacation together.  We actually we did go on vacation before kids and that was when Brian and I got engaged, so technically it wasn't a "family" trip quite yet.  This year my parents, my sister, her husband and 2 kids, my sister's inlaws, my mom's sister, and Brian and I and the kids went to the outer banks for a week at the end of July.  We all stayed in a big house near the beach.  Jaxon had his own room and Kaelyn was in our room. Jaxon did great in his own room. Kaelyn was content during the day and fussed at night. It was hard to get her to sleep. We had a great time at the beach and at the pool.  It took Jaxon a while to get used to the pool and the ocean.  He loved playing in the sand and with his cousin Maddie Grace.  By the end of the week he did better in the water.
The kids enjoyed playing together.  Maddie Grace loved being a little momma to Jaxon. We had alot of good food and spent time together.  We took our bikes and went for a few bike rides.

One night we decided to go fly a kite out on the beach

After a week with my family we stayed 2 more nights and spend time in Ocracoke and Hatteras.  We saw some lighthouses, went to Jockey's ridge, rode a ferry, and ate some good food.  The sleeping arrangements were challenging after being spoiled at the big beach house.  We all slept together both nights in one room. After being gone a week we were ready to get home and I think the kids were ready to get back in their normal routine and sleep in their own bed.
