Some of Jaxon's firsts

Saturday we had a very spontaneous day.
I went to a cloth diapering class at this really cool baby boutique.  It was mainly a support group where we could come with questions and get feedback from other moms as well.  It was very helpful.  Then I went to my 2nd consignment sale in the past 2 days.  I found some great stuff for Jaxon (clothes, DVD's, and a fisher price space saver exersaucer)  I love going to these, Brian might have to hold me back.  Jaxon is quickly growing out of his clothes and I wanted to stock up on some for the fall/winter.

Then we made plans with friends for the rest of the day.  We went to a local park and Jaxon rode the carousel and train for the 1st time. Then we grilled out for dinner and friends came over to join us.  We really enjoyed getting together with other people.  Its been hard to find time to get together with friends and have some adult time.

Here are some pictures of some of Jaxon's firsts

So thankful to have some girl time this week and Jaxon didn't seem to mind joining me.  I went to the mall to meet my friend Heather.  We watched her kids play in the play area.  Looking forward to Jaxon being able to play with other kids.  I also met with one of my college friends Ashley and her kids.  Her son Malin is about 1 month older than Jaxon.  We watched her daughter Aiden play in the play area at the mall as well.  She live several hours away, so it was great to be able to catch up with her.

We had a play date with Parker this week.  Parker is about 2 months older than Jaxon but he was born a little early so they look to be about the same size.  They were so cute together.  We also went to a local park and I met up with several of my mommy friends and their kids and we walked around the park for about an hour.  Jaxon slept through it all.

Brian and I had some time together this week while my mother in law watched Jaxon for us.  We went out to lunch and went house hunting.  Didn't have much luck.  Several of the houses we looked at were either too expensive, houses were too close together or the ones we liked and were affordable were too far away.  I know that God will provide we just need to be patient for the perfect house.  Thankfully we aren't in any hurry.

Washed more cloth diapers this week.  Its still going well.  The sun is magic.  I set the diapers outside after they have been washed and the sun gets the stains out.  So amazing.

Jaxon amazes me everyday.  He's such a content baby.  He loves his afternoon nap.  He lets me get stuff done around the house and enjoys taking walks with me.  He doesn't seem to be a very fussy baby, just when he needs to be changed or when he's hungry.  He's still been sleeping through the night.  I have a turtle that lights up in his room and displays stars on the ceiling that he seems to like. He continues to be talkative and is very alert.  I can't wait to hear him say real words.  I'm enjoying every moment of my time home with him.  So thankful that God has allowed me to stay home.

A Little Behind

We've been busy catching up from being away for a week and my hubby's birthday.
At Jaxon's 2 month appointment the doctor said he is growing just fine.  Poor thing had to get some shots.  He cried and I saw tears. The nurse said when she was done with the shots to be ready to pick him up to love on him.  I hated to see my little guy cry.  I wonder how I'll do when we have to discipline him and he cries.  One thing that I've heard whenever your child is in pain or after you discipline them (whether in time out or spanking) to make sure you love on them and tell them you love them.
He was a little fussy throughout the day but we got through it.
The doctor said I could feed him more.  He is now eating 4 oz of milk and is growing.
He is eating really well and still sleeping through the night.  I need to do a better job of getting him to nap better during the day.  Some days I just get so busy out and about and he doesn't get a good nap and then he gets fussy.  We love listening to him talk and he's trying to hold some of his toys now.  Can't believe how much he is growing.

I started cloth diapers last Saturday. Its been going well so far.  Some people think I'm crazy for doing them while others have joined me on the bandwagon.  I bought some new online and bought some used ones from a friend.  I have several different kinds some with snaps and some with velcro.  They are one size, which means I use the same ones as he grows.  We have about 24 diapers, which allows me to go several days until I have to wash.  I store them in a dry bag which seals the smell. I've washed the diapers twice now with Charlie's Soap which has been wonderful, but its a smelly job.  I usually wear disposable gloves when handling the diapers as I'm putting them in the wash.  I dried the liners in the dryer the first time and learned about letting them dry outside in the sun to get rid of stains.  So far so good. It sure does save money.  I'm amazed at how many disposable diapers Jaxon was going through in a day.  I don't feel like its that much more work. Just have to do an extra load of laundry.  It was overwhelming at first to figure out what diapers to buy, the soap to use, and the whole washing process.  But I think I've got the hang of it, we'll see.
We went over to meet baby Eliana and took Danielle and Jon some dinner.  So thankful for Jaxon to have another playmate.
our neighbor Lauren came over to visit with us

We decided to celebrate my hubby's birthday a day early by going to a near by water park.  I had never been and he hadn't been since he was a kid.  We had a blast.  It had lots of slides with inner tubes and a wave pool.  We were worn out by the end of the day and sore when we woke up the next morning.  We had great weather and the lines weren't that long so we picked a great day to go.  Thankful for my inlaws that came over to watch Jaxon so I could have a day to spend with my hubby.

On Saturday, it was my hubby's birthday and we were going to go to a near by park to grill out but it stormed really bad so we had to grill out at the house.  His parents, grandma, and his friend Tim came over for the celebration.
Happy Birthday!!!

We decided to try out our new kayaks at a near by lake.  It was really hot and didn't have much of a breeze, but still had a great time with my hubby.  Jaxon was at home having a great time with grandma and grandpa.

Our little man is 2 months old

I'm a little behind and there is so much to share about the last 2 weeks.  We are having so much fun with our little man. He is growing so fast and has been so talkative.  We love listening to him talk in his own little language and love all his facial expressions.  He is still trying to figure out his hands and feet.  He moves his arms and kicks his feet like he is going somewhere.  Its so cute when he sneezes, most of the time he sneezes 3-4 times in a row.  I think he gets that from me.  We are so thankful that he is sleeping through the night.  He seems very content and does not cry a whole lot unless he is hungry or needs to be changed.  Its been such a blessing to have Brian home for the summer.  We've enjoyed our flexible schedule to travel and visit with friends and family.  Brian is such a great dad to our little guy.  I love watching them interact.  Brian is looking forward to hanging out with his little buddy when he is old enough to go places and do things with him.

We had a nice visit with Brian's brother's inlaws.  They couldn't wait to meet him.

sporting his new John Deere outfit, his daddy picked it out

We couldn't help out with camp this year, but decided to go see the kids off.  They enjoyed meeting Jaxon.

So thankful to have an afternoon with my hubby.  My mother in law came over to watch Jaxon.  It was a little hard to leave my little man for the first time.  I think I did better than I thought.  We had a wonderful afternoon.  We took a 10 miles bike ride and then went to the pool. It was nice to have a break and I don't think Jaxon knew we were gone.

I wish I did a better job of keeping up with old friends.  Its hard when life happens and there are miles between us.  So thankful for great roommates in college.  It was great to be able to catch up with them and for them to come by to meet Jaxon.

Jaxon trying out the bumbo.  I don't think he's quite ready for it, but his neck is getting stronger.

We went to visit my parents for about a week and had a great time.  We went to celebrate July 4th and my mom's birthday.  They really haven't spent a whole lot of time with him except right after he was born.  To get him ready for his new bed at my parents, we decided to try putting him in his crib a couple days before we left.  At my parents' house Jaxon slept in their pack and play.  He did just fine.  I think he likes having room to spread out and kick his legs.  We didn't bring alot of his things to my parents, mainly because we didn't have the room.  You will understand why later.  We bathed him in the bathtub instead of his baby bath tub.  Mimmie had a colorful quilt that he enjoyed lying on.  It seems that he's been enjoying lying on his blanket more than anything on his back or tummy.
On our way to my parents we decided to buy 2 kayaks from 2 people on Craigs list.  Brian loves to kayak and wanted to get one for me so we could go together.  I'll enjoy it as long as I don't roll the kayak or fall out.  If you asked my parents or watched me growing up I wasn't too big on doing things outside (camping, hiking, kayaking, getting sweaty, and being around bugs).  Brian has helped me to try new things.  I think in a marriage you need to have fun and do things together even if it means doing things that your spouse enjoys and you may not.  I've had fun trying new things.  I went para sailing in Key West-where we got engaged, hiking, kayaking, vacationing in new places, cooking and trying new foods.
